*********************

I'm off to see Graham Parker and Brinsley Schwarz tonight play at the Oran Mor in Glasgow. It was a birthday present from my wife (who will be going with me) way back in May so have been waiting over four months for this night to come around!

I thought that would be a good excuse to pull out the Debut Album and the follow up from Graham Parker and The Rumour and give them a blast.

Both albums were released in 1976 and I remember at the time thinking that there was no one doing what they were (maybe Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes across the pond who had also released their Debut in 1976), there probably was a few others but you don't have much of a musical radar when you are 13 years old and relient upon the radio and the music press to find out what's happening (kids today with the Internet don't realise how good they have it with so much music at their fingertips!).

They also reminded me a little at times of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band when they got to do those little Soul infused Rock numbers like E Street Shuffle and Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out. Just in passing Graham Parker did get to record with Bruce Springsteen and Danny Federici when he was making The Up Escalator album and Bruce can be heard on Endless Night.
