Rewind: 1967 - Otis Redding Releases Live In Europe

Live in Europe
Released 10th July 1967
Volt/Atco
Produced by Jim Stewart
US Chart #32
UK Chart #14

'Live in Europe' was the first live album of Otis Redding and the only live album released whilst he was alive. Five months after the release of this he would no longer be with us.

It's a great document of the Stax/Volt Revue European Tour. It was recorded in Paris at the Olympia Theatre on 21st March 1967 and his backing band were Booker T and the MG's.

Looking at the set by Otis Redding is enough to think if you had been there then it would have been the best gig you had ever seen and no one could ever match the standard with the bar so high!

It is possible that if you live outside Europe that you might not be able to access the video of the album above so just in case click on the links below to hear the tracks from the album. Hopefully they work okay.

Seeing the poster for that tour leaves you salivating at the prospect of what would have been a fantastic night of Soul music. The poster was probably spot on with it's declaration that it was 'The World's Greatest Soul Show'.
